Our school-wide conflict management curriculum includes teaching students about solving problems using Kelso's Choices. This is taught throughout Bellingham school district in K-5 classrooms. Students are empowered to try and solve irritating, annoying and frustrating situations that they experience with other students by using the strategies in these posters below. When a big problem occurs children are asked to get help from adult. Big problems are those situations that feel scary, frightening, and overwhelming, such as bullying, bringing weapons to school etc.
In primary classes at Sunnyland students use this chart to pick choices to solve small problems.
In 4th and 5th grade classrooms students use this chart to pick choices to solve small problems.
